"That was obviously another challenging weekend. It's hard to overtake here when you end up in a DRS train, so the weekend was more or less dictated by qualifying. It's hard to get yourself out of a low grid position, so on Sunday I paid the price for Saturday.
"My Q1 lap was decent, trending to being good enough to get through, but then (Aston Martin's Lance) Stroll dropped his left rear tyre on the entry of Turn 13 and threw some dirt on the track, and that was where I lost all the time. Seb (Sebastian Vettel) was just behind me on track and he spun there for the same reason. So it felt like a lap that got away, and that dictated my Sunday in a lot of ways.
"The first few laps were not too bad and I think we made some places here and there. But starting that far back, it's hard to make a big impression, you need a big difference to make some moves. In clear air, it felt like I had a little bit of pace to use but it didn't always seem to last long.
"We look ahead to Monza – I'll try to bring back last year’s magic!"

Monza highlights: Took McLaren's first F1 victory since 2012 and his first since Monaco 2018 when he won in Italy last year, leading for 48 of the 53 laps. Set the fastest lap of the race on the final lap, to go with the fastest lap he set in 2017 when finishing fourth for Red Bull Racing. The 89 points scored at Monza are more than any other single circuit across his 224-race F1 career. Has finished inside the top six on five of his past six visits to Monza. One of only five races to feature on the calendar across every year of his career since 2011: Abu Dhabi, Belgium, Great Britain and Hungary are the others.
